Chapter 1. Angelwood
1.1 From early summer to late spring, I lived above the racing garage at Angelwood Automotive.
Angelwood, as everyone knows, lies on the border of heaven and hell.
1.2 All the spirits here have made it into heaven, but just barely...1.3. Those days in Angelwood were tense.
1.4 The cold conflict between East and West had become so icy that one might forget about the soul-melting hellfire just a short distance away.
1.5 Well, almost...
1.6 From the rooftops in the West, you could nearly see hell in the distance. From the quiet Eastern forest, you could sometimes hear the screams.
1.7 And no matter where you were in Angelwood, you could always feel the heat. 1.8. Whoever placed these poor souls here in this heavenly border town must have a sense of humor. 1.9. A shared fear of the Inferno is the only thing keeping East and West united (besides the Great Race).1.10. Without the threat of damnation, total ideological warfare would have overwhelmed the place. It still might.
1.11. But for now, the souls of Angelwood suffer an angry, uneasy peace.
